Review - Dead Man's Shoes

Independent movies have a certain niche community of fans, people who know that a lower budget forces a good director to give you a better story and a more creative experience when you watch his film.

Dead Man's Shoes is a great example of just how powerful a story can be when a director works outside of the Hollywood template.  This 2004 release out of the UK starts with the a powerful narrative, stating "God will forgive them.  He'll forgive them, and allow them into Heaven.  I can't live with that."  Pretty much sums up the tone of what to expect, an Irish paratrooper returning home to exact revenge on the local bullies who terrorized his handicapped brother in his absence.

I'm a big fan of any movie that involves revenge and kicking ass, and the extra guerrilla scare tactics this guy uses just pushes it beyond the realm of cool and into 'bad-ass'. If you don't have any desire to see this movie then I have to believe you are waiting for me to review Pretty Woman. Sorry, maybe next week.
